X-Cart's help area mentions using a web page to find your version but we recommend disabling that ability as a security precaution.

They also mention looking at the Summary page in the admin. Yes, that is exactly where you can find it along with a lot of other good information. If you have menus across the top (4.4 or higher), you'll find Summary under the Tools menu. If your admin area has menus down the side (4.3 or less), you can find Summary in that long list.

Further down the page you'll see a table of information and X-Cart Version is at the top.

For version 5 the exact version number should be displayed in the upper left of the admin once signed in.
